Bowens most popular pastimes are relaxing and enjoying its beaches and water activities. The many white sand beaches are great for swimming or snorkeling with both coral and marine life just a few metres from the shore .

Sailing, Fishing Windsurfing, Sea Kayaking, Kite Boarding and Diving are some of the other pastimes available.

Bowen has a many sporting facilities including outdoor Olympic size swimming pool (just 100mts from hostel), an 18 hole golf course, tennis and squash courts. Horse and bike riding are other popular activities .

The Bowen turf club runs regular race meetings which provide visitors a chance to see a real slice of Australian bush culture.

Airlie Beach is just 40 minutes away for those wanting to visit Whitsunday Islands and less than an hour to the historic mining town of Collinsville. Whether you want a working holiday or a quiet relaxing time away from the tourist hords "Bowen" is the place to stay.
