Bowens abundance of harvest work and its coastal location make it the ideal place for both working and relaxing. With its ideal winter climate and beautiful beaches it’s the best of both worlds.

The main harvest season starts in May and finishes in December but some work is available all year round  The hospitality industry with 8 pubs numerous cafes and accommodation places often seeking staff.

Bowen has a history of employing backpackers and they are well accepted in the town and by the local community.

Crops produced in the area are tomatoes, capsicums, chillis, melons and the world famous Bowen Mangos. (see the picture on the right)

The fishing industry is also very busy with prawns and coral trout being the main catches, job opportunities are often available at the harbour.
